This week made me think of when I was a little kid and we had to guess how many jelly beans are in the jar. I know that the jelly bean example is not the same as conditional probability with or without replacement, but I could see how people that grasp the concept of probability will have a better chance.

In honor of my kids I am going to use the example of legos.

In a box of 100 legos (25 red, 50 green, 25 blue)

– What is the probability of drawing a (red, green, blue) lego in that order, with replacement.

P ( red, green, blue) with replacement.

– What is the probability of drawing a (red, green, blue) lego in that order, without replacement.

P (red, green, blue) without replacement.
