The Final Project for this course will involve the construction of a literature review thatcan be used to inform counseling practice. For this assignment, you will have to do thefollowing:a) Select a theory, technique, or intervention strategy that can be applied in your counselingspecialty that you would like to explore in the professional literatureb) Visit the Walden University Library to determine if there is sufficient professional literatureavailable related to your topic of interestc) Submit your topic to your Course Instructor for approvald) Select:1. At least five quantitative research articles2. At least five qualitative research articles3. At least one mixed methods research article4. At least one program evaluation article for reviewYour review should include between 12 and 15 peer-reviewed articles. Note that mixedmethods research articles may not be published on every topic of interest. Writing a quality literature review involves a thorough knowledge of research methodsand exemplary writing skills. A well-written literature review conveys the story of theresearch that has been conducted to date on a certain topic. Contained in the story is acritical analysis of the research efforts (e.g., design, procedure, sample, data analysis, andinterpretation) and an evaluation of how the research can inform practice. By conductinga review of the literature, it is possible to determine if gaps exist that require furtherresearch. Throughout this course, you will develop a thorough understanding of theliterature review process and the components of a quality literature review.Although the Final Project is not to be submitted until Day 4 of Week 11, you shouldbecome familiar with the project requirements and have them in mind as you proceedthrough the course.The Final Project will be evaluated according to all four indicators in the ApplicationAssignment and Final Paper Writing Rubric located in the Course Information area.
